September 29, 2016 – Umami Records (in conjunction with Foundation Records) is proud to announce that Nettwerk Music Group has signed Singapore artist Linying to its roster of artists. The North American powerhouse label will manage the indie-electronic singer-songwriter in North and South America, opening her to new audiences and fanbases in these continents. Linying will release her debut EP, Paris 12, this Friday, 30th September.
A label that needs no introduction, Nettwerk Music Group has a successful, continuing history of breaking out the best artists music has ever heard (and seen). The storied group that introduced to North America artists like Coldplay, Sarah McLachlan, Dido (and in more recent times, Passenger, Fun, and Sinead O’Connor) has now thrown its weight behind Singapore’s breakout star.
Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride noted that in Linying, there is a unique dynamism few artists possess. “For me, music is about emotion, and Linying delivers on that experience. She is a very special artist, and we are excited to be her label partner for North and South America,” says McBride.
Linying’s first works were immensely-popular collaborations with some of European house music’s biggest names, leading to a #1 on Hype Machine and over 10 million plays on Spotify. She released her own first single “Sticky Leaves” earlier this year, landing on Spotify’s viral charts globally, garnering critical praise from the likes of Billboard, and was selected by NPR Music’s Bob Boilen on NPR’s All Songs Considered playlist.
Her latest single, Paris 12 (from which the upcoming EP gets its name), was recently featured on BBC Radio 1′s featured playlist curated by renowned tastemaker and DJ Phil Taggart. Linying’s trademark imprint –her sweeping vocals, stark lyricism and intricate electronic-baroque balladry (whose productions were helmed by producer Kevin Foo)– has continued to weave its way into the hearts of listeners around the world, earning her a coveted slot on Spotify Spotlight on 2016 Featured Artist.
After her live debut in Tokyo last month at the Summer Sonic Festival, Linying is now in the midst of an European tour with Felix Jaehn. The songstress will continue her tour at a series of festivals around the world, ending in her native Singapore for the Neon Lights Festival on 27 November.
Paris 12 EP will be released in North America and South America via Nettwerk Music Group, in Asia via Universal Music Group, in Europe/UK and Australia via Akira Records, and in Japan and the rest of the world via Umami Records.
