CampFire digs deep into alt hip-hop with second EP ‘MarshMellow’; To perform at Grizzle Grind Crew-curated One Solid Day Out festival

14 OCTOBER 2016, SINGAPORE – Fresh off their debut and not missing a single step, alternative hip-hop duo CampFire are set to drop their highly-charged sophomore EP titled MarshMellow. The album will be released on 21 October, Friday, jointly under Umami Records and SOLD Records.

Much like how a good sophomore album is a more insightful dive into an artist’s warp and woof, with MarshMellow, producer-emcees Joshua Tan and Nicco Homaili have set their sights on the fraying lines of a familiar, human theme: love. Driven by their own experiences, the album is an ever-deepening encounter between alt hip-hop craft and instinctive catharsis – and this is where the duo flourish, bringing a new backdrop to a subject that is as oft-explored as it is ever-relatable.

Drawing expansively from influences like Frank Ocean, Clams Casino and Yonas, the pair bring into fruition what can only be imagined from a theoretical coming-together of these sounds. Kicking off with the late-night headspace of Nominees (the album’s lead single), the listener is set on a journey into what the duo describes as “the four stages of love.”  Also featured in the EP is introspective collaboration piece “Goddamn” with rapper Mean.

The four-tracker album will be released jointly by Singapore-based labels Umami Records and SOLD Records. CampFire will perform MarshMellow at One Solid Day Out Festival on 19 November, a festival organised by DJ Koflow and Felix Huang, and curated by Grizzle Grind Crew,

Ticket information will be announced on CampFire’s official channels in due course.

Producer Evanturetime Premieres Sumptuous Minimal Electronica In ‘Vultures’ co-written with Linying; featuring Charlie Lim

SINGAPORE, 14 OCTOBER 2016Evan Low, better known by his producer moniker Evanturetime, takes a strong step out onto his own stage with debut single ‘Vultures’, premiering 21 October, Friday on all major streaming platforms under Singapore-based label Umami Records.  The track will be made available for pre-order on 14 October, Friday.

You can be forgiven if the name doesn’t ring an immediate bell – the young producer has steadfastly, quietly, risen in the scene as an electronic artist with serious takes on the genre. His craft was honed on back of studio and performance work with artists like Linying (Spotify Spotlight Artist 2016), The Sam Willows (MTV EMA Best Southeast Asia Act 2014 Nominee), iNCH (Letters to Ubin), and more. In that sense, ‘Vultures’ is reflective of Low’s current journey – tempering restless, meticulous vigour with an ability to accentuate the strengths of those he collaborates with.

And what a collaboration it could turn out to be. ‘Vultures’ coalesces the honeyed, autumnal vocals of Linying (Paris 12, Sticky Leaves) with the more subtle, bedroom tones of Charlie Lim (Knots, Choices). Linying and Low also brought their craft to the songwriting table, imbuing intricacy into the latter’s understated soundscape centred on sampled leaf sounds and vintage synths.

Building on influences like Brian Eno, Dr Luke, and Brian Blade, Low noted that he was inspired as much by his references and collaborators as the artistic tension to find his own individual voice. ‘Vultures’ is the result of that endeavour, but its release will also be the beginning of another – the single will be the lead song off Low’s upcoming Evanturetime EP in 2017, featuring more highly-anticipated collaborations with artists like Nathan Hartono (Voice of China finalist 2016), Tim de Cotta, iNCH and more in the pipeline.

Vultures’ will be made available for pre-order on iTunes on 14 October, and will launch on iTunes and Spotify on 21 October via Umami Records.
